Tasty fruits that are great for detoxing!

Many of us kick-back and indulge a little more than usual during the festive period, unintentionally absorbing one or two extra toxins along the way.

Thankfully nature has some great remedies for helping to cleanse the body, one of which is fruit! Below are a selection of fruits that we feel deserve a 5-star status, for their natural ability to help detox the body, whilst replenishing it with various vitamins and minerals.

Blueberries

Blueberries are a brilliant source of fibre, vitamin C, vitamin K, manganese, amongst others and are believed to have one of the highest antioxidant levels of all common fruits. Consuming berries also helps produce butyrate, which is a fatty acid that helps in weight loss and makes the body lean

Apples

Apples are rich in vitamins, fibre and minerals, as well as phytochemical and pectin, which are great for helping the detox process. Some of the acids in apples also support a healthy digestive system.

Oranges

Similar to lemons, oranges are loaded with vitamin C, which can help fight free radicals which damage your body. They are alkaline in property and help restore the body’s pH balance. It also makes your immune system strong.

Lemons

As well as containing a decent amount of vitamin C, lemons are also an effective source for cleansing, and can also helps with gastric problems. They are most effective in detoxification when taken with warm water, although you may wish to add bit of honey or sugar if you prefer sweeter tastes vs. sour!

Kiwis

Kiwis are great for detoxing, and are high in fibre, vitamin C and antioxidants, with a low amount of calories, which also makes them an ideal health snack. Kiwis also help to clear out toxins, which subsequently improves digestion. They also help to reduce water retention in your body.
