Earth Day is celebrated globally, and is a day dedicated to raising awareness about environmental issues and promoting sustainable practices.
At goodnus, we consider each and every day to be Earth Day, as we're constantly looking at new strategies to become even more sustainable, as well as encouraging and supporting our customers to do the same.
Although we have many exciting plans for the next 12 months, we thought this would be a great opportunity tell our customers about what we've achieved during the last year, and will be releasing our ESG Report for 2023.

Here's a few top-picks of some of our proudest achievements in 2023:
Sustainable Supply-Chain
We believe in supporting our local economy, and reducing food miles wherever possible. This is why we have introduced our Good, Better, Greener supplier selection policy.
"Greener" represents our finest local and ethical suppliers. The products we want to promote are sourced or produced locally within 120 miles of Central London, and support sustainable and social enterprises.
In 2023 57% of our stock purchases made from Greener suppliers, and our target for 2024 is 65%.
Glass vs. Plastic
In 2023 our reusable glass bottles, have enabled our customers to avoid using 276,389 plastic milk bottles, equating to over 11.2 tonnes of plastic – almost the same weight as a double decker bus! This figure is a conservative estimate using the most popular 2 litre plastic container
Green Energy
Moving to green energy is a significant step for goodnus to reduce our carbon footprint and contribute to a more sustainable future, and in 2023 goodnus moved to using RIGO certified energy from Ecotricity, the first UK energy company to offer its customers green electricity.
Ecotricity started with one windmill in Gloucestershire and have carried on building new wind and solar parks around Britain. As an Ecotricity customer, we’re proud to state that none of the power supply to our building uses fossil fuel.
Cardboard Recycling
In addition to this, due to processing 13 tonnes of fruit each week, we receive over 2 tonnes of wholesale cardboard boxes each month. This is then baled and distributed to cardboard mills for reuse. This means fewer recycling collections, less carbon emissions from the recycle trucks and less felling of trees to produce new material.
Due to the success of introducing our cardboard baling machine, this has become the catalyst for us to explore, and improve on our current recycling methods for other materials such as films, Tetra-Pak cartons and plastic milk bottles.
